Stay the Course

Thursday, August 10

American United For Change's newest ad: President Bush has continued to demand to "Stay the Course" in Iraq. While President Bush mandates to "Stay the Course," Americans are facing rising healthcare costs and exorbitant increases in college tuition. President Bush has stayed on the wrong course for too long, its time for a change.

There are several points Americans NEED to be aware of:

1) The Iraqi invasion was planned by AEI neo-cons and Pentagon officials, who subsequently falsified intel documents. The group is called OSP: Office of Special Plans.
2) We are in Iraq to access control of the world’s 2nd largest oil field with the cheapest “lifting cost” of 75 cents/barrel,(extracting it from the ground). Iraq is a non-OPEC country -
3)By “sitting” on the oil in Iraq, we thwart production, thus shorting the supply and increasing the cost to fuel addicted Americans. If we control that field, we are more assured of stable prices: remember, India and China are experiencing their “industrial revolutions” and will need much more fuel based on their populations. Oil fields ARE depleting.
4) We have spent $300 billion in Iraq. The alternative fuel experts say they need $ 20 billion to get to the next level (making some systems available to American consumers). The BUSH administration views alternative fuel as a “financial threat”: they will lose a substantial piece of the pie they have enjoyed at our expense -
5) The planet is “choking” on CO2 particulates that have been in the atmosphere for the last couple of hundred years. The Earth has natural “carbon sinks” which absorb CO2. Guess what the largest carbon sink is? Our OCEANS! Now, think about warming temperatures, migrating fish, changes in fish populations, etc.
6) It would take the planet 300-400 years to absorb the current levels of CO2 that are in the air right NOW!
7) Every time you burn through a gallon of gas, you emit the equivalent of a 5 lb. bag of charcoal in carbon dioxide!
8) There is alot of waste! Did you know that only 15% per/gallon of gas reaches your tires on your car!

I could go on and on, but you get the point. There are many viable solutions, but they will take a decade or more to fine tune. Meanwhile, Bush and Co. crank out the marketing deceptions to advance their agenda. Don’t FALL fo it!

This Add is Treason in my eyes. Be thankful we have a President that has a backbone. If he did not you have no idea how bad things would be here today since our enemy is on attach and was before Bush got into office. It does not matter who is in office. They Hate the USA period for the value of Freedom and that of Jesus Christ which undeniably is such a large part of our land. The only change is the need and attitude of those who are blinded by our enemy. This might be o.k. if we were dealing with wars of the past or other issues but today’s Terrorist thought process has no Logic. It is either Death or covert to being a Muslim. If that is not what you’re hearing you might want to stop watching NBC, CNN, or the such. They have a slanted agenda based on ownership. If the left really wants to understand this before being bombarded by Treasonous messages like this on U.S aired TV channels I suggest you go to the war front and meet the people that want us there. Also meet the Terrorist face to face and see what a Termite would like to do to you just because your not of there faith. This has been the home of strong and the brave because people stood up for protecting freedom. Thank George Bush for doing just that. What is bothersome about your commercial is the millions of children at home who do not have parents these days and see this wrongly portrayed commercial based on a poor political attack and are being brain wash with a anti patriotic heart because you do not know how to campaign as individual party that is first Unified as one country. My concern is what does this commercial do to there minds now for there thoughts 40 years from now. Just because you think the commercial is right in your eyes this should not be played not matter how much you disagree with the Presidents foreign policy. Remember he is the President of the United State of America. He did win because that is what the People elected in. Just because you might have money to use for Campaigning does not make it right to air this add. Respect that fact he is the President. If not go live in another country or go educate ones self on what it means to not have liberty and freedom. Because the enemy not matter where you live if they have it here way will kill you if you do not believe there way. At least in the U.S you have the choice to believe truth or not.

TJ,
When you refer to advertising the word is “ad” not “add”. Add is short for addition.
Your entire post is a sad comment on the mental capabilities and educational levels in the United States.

As a fellow resident of the State of Michigan, I apologize for the embarrassing posting from TJ in Northville.  I assure you that there are people in my state who can think for themselves; have a basic grasp of grammar, spelling and punctuation; and can construct a cogent argument.

Part 1:
Seeing as how you don’t have a place for general comments and your “Contact” link is not working for some strange reason (let me guess, it’s all Bush’s fault that the contact page is not finished, right?) I will leave my two cents on to this page. This evening I watched your new ad that you are playing in my area of Virginia about “how Bush wants to stay the course but this is all wrong and we want change” and all I can say about it is that it must be a joke. On your “About US” page you claim “We are not a partisan organization nor are we allied with any political party” yet all you do is blame the “Republican controlled congress” for every little thing and how “President Bush and his allies in Congress” all the cause of all the evils in our government. The last time I looked the Republicans may have a “majority” in congress (this means they have more then 50 percent of the seats in office) this does not mean they have the power to pass every single bill they want to as they don’t have true “control” as your website makes it sound like. If I remember correctly it takes a 2/3 rd majority of the votes in order to pass what ever they want. Since Congress is not 67 percent Republican I don’t see how they can be called “in control”. A perfect example would be a recent vote that pertained to the inheritance tax the Republicans wanted and the increase in the minimum wage that the Democrats were after. Both items were combined in to one bill yet Democrats were so dead set against the part that would have removed the inheritance tax from houses under something like $400k (they claimed it would only help the rich) that they voted against the measure even though it meant passing up their one chance for an increase in the minimum wage. The Democrats didn’t want it so the bill failed to pass. With stuff like that going on in Congress can you explain to me again how we have a “Republican controlled congress”?

Anyhow, back to this latest piece of work from your organization to grace our local airwaves. The biggest farce in this so called commercial (which does nothing but slam Republicans and does not mention Democrats, yet again you claim you “are not a partisan organization” so it must be okay to let the Democrats slide this time) that I would have to take fault with would be for blaming Bush for the record high prices on fuel. In case you weren’t paying attention there was this storm called Katrina that hit the U.S. a year ago. This drove prices up even more during the winter and when summer came along the fuel companies did their usually thing and raised their prices even more like they always do when summer hits. It’s called taking advantage of the system. Yet I don’t see anyone going after the fuel companies for their business practices. All I hear is “It’s Bush’s fault and Republicans are bad and must be destroyed”. Yes, the ongoing war in Iraq has not helped matters much but it is not the sole item that is having an effect on our cost for fuel. One other thing that Democrats can’t seem to understand is we as a country have fallen too in love with our vehicles and this “need” for SUV’s. This is fine and dandy and each person should have the right to drive want they want to (this is American, the land of the free after all) but there are going to be consequences to the choices we make. In the case of our growing use of personal transportation we have put an even increasing demand for processed crude oil on a system that has not done anything to increase its ability to keep ahead of demand. Again, this ends up also increasing the cost of fuel (I thing the process is something called “supply versus demand”) but that does not mean the entire issue of high fuel prices is “all Bush’s fault”. Bush is only guilty of being part of the problem, not all of it. While I may be in Virginia right now I used to live in Alaska. Ever heard of ANWR? Ever heard of the oil reserve we have off our coastlines? How come we have not been able to touch those yet and why are we stuck relying on foreign oil instead? I would tell you but I don’t think you would like the answer as it isn’t “Bush’s fault” nor is it due to Republicans.

Part 2
In another section you have an article titled “In Focus: Bring Back Honesty and Integrity”. While I agree that our congressional system is controlled more by special interest groups and the lobbying people it is a problem with all our politicians, not just Republicans. Yet from what I can tell your examples of so called corruption pertain to cases involving only Republicans and no mention of bad deeds done by Democrats (I will admit I may be wrong on this as you don’t give names so I can only go by my recent memory about who did what but since you didn’t give names it is had to tell for sure). To add insult to injury 5 of the 7 so called examples are of people that have only been “indicted” or are only “under investigation”. If you go to Dictionary.com you will find the meaning of “indicted” to be: To accuse of wrongdoing. This does not mean they are truly guilty. The last time I looked our judicial system was one were a person was “innocent till proven guilty”. Same thing with “being under investigation”.  Then once a reader gets past this section of “allegations” the next part is about “Real Problems”. Right off the bat the first two are a joke. Item number one is about health care costs. Have you ever researched the main reason doctors charge so much? It’s called the rising cost of malpractice insurance. And do you know why it is as high as it is? It’s due to all the outrages sums awarded by our legal system and the jurors that decide the cases. That is not the fault of Congress, whether it be Republican or Democrat. Until we change our legal system malpractice insurance will continue to drive up the cost of medical services, not congress. The second one is in regards to “oil companies spiking fuel and home heating prices”. Ever heard of a free market economy? They have the right to charge what ever price they want and we as the consumer have the right to chose not to pay it if we don’t. Again, this price is also controlled by the “supply versus demand” principal. The more we continue to overtax the ability of our refineries to keep up with demand the worse it is going to get. Yet I don’t see Democrats saying we need to do more to reduce our consumption rate while at the same time doing their part to help out. Heck, I’ve even seen certain Democrats talk about the issue while at the same time they own at least one gas hog of an SUV. I have a full size van, a minivan, and a motorcycle. My full size van gets about the same gas mileage as an SUV. So what have I done to minimize my impact on the supply of fuel in our country? I ride my motorcycle as much as possible (even in the rain) or share the minivan with my wife since it gets twice to three times the city mileage as the full size van does. I’ve maybe used the full size van 3 to 4 times in the last year. I don’t do this because I’m worried about the environment. I do it because I refuse to pay what the fuel companies want for gas right now. It’s not all that hard to do.

As I stated before I totally agree with you in regards to our congressional system being more interested in themselves and not about the people of our country it is not just a Republican issue as it affects both sides. Yet when I read your website and what you claim is wrong with our country it comes across like nothing but a Pro Democrat organization. As I mentioned before you claim you are a non-partisan organization yet you claim on your own site that “proving beyond a doubt that the culture of corruption in the Republican leadership reaches to the very top”. Again, corruption is not limited to just the Republicans yet nowhere do you even discuss the blatant corruption that Democrats have been convicted of (not just accused of). For an organization that openly admits to placing ads aimed at putting down Republicans while trying to promote the Democrat that is running against him or her I think your non-partisan claim is clearly the biggest lie of them all. The Republicans might not be perfect but neither are the Democrats. Thanks but no thanks.
