Your New Iraq War Ad

Who will be the voice of the anti-war movement?
It's not going to be a politician. It's not going to be a celebrity. It's going to be the voice of the American people -- and that might be you.
Americans United for Change is going to run targeted ads in the districts of vulnerable pro-war Senators and Congressmembers -- and the content of those ads will come from you. Send us a video, a photo, a voice message or just a note about why you think we need to bring our troops home:

I have come to the sad realization that regardless of what the administration says, they have no intention of leaving Iraq any time soon. The president wants us to stay the course till we win, but I know that the largest embassy in the world..for 1,000 persons, and the many bases that we now have in Iraq, indicate that the war is only a lofty sounding cover. With the pipeline being built and the uses of the oil and who controls it, still in limbo, until that is all decided we will not leave. Remember when Cheney, Rumsfeld, Ashcroft and the others all said it would be a piece of cake to take Iraq, and the oil would pay for the war? Even with the departure of some of them, their empire building has not diminished, but they have just put a new spin on it. First it was weapons of mass destruction when they knew none were there, then it was to get rid of the terrorists, now it is to build democracy. We have supported thugs who have done our bidding, and looked the other way, even in the face of evidence that these same leaders abused their people. Now with the burgeoning populations in China and India and their great need and thirst for oil, in their state of industrialization, and a declining supply of oil, we are simply doing what they originally intended, grabbing the oil that we can.
I do not want to see one more soldier or marine or navy personal die in this war. Enough is enough. Enough of the lies. And I feel terrible when I think of the innocent Iraqi people who have been killed needlessly. And our own beloved sons and daughters who have lost their lives, and more than 30,000 who will live a living death because of having their bodies and minds destroyed. True they have had stars in their eyes and would do anything for their country. We should be proud of them, but let us end the charade and bring them out of harm’s way. Support and love them by ending the war and bringing them home. The people of this country have not been fooled. AlQueda is still out there, and there are always more to take their place when a few are killed. Unless there is diplomacy, discussion, and a time set up for our departure, the people will never stand up and do what is needed. We must also concentrate on dealing with the Palestinians with an even hand. They want the same things the Israelis do..a simple right to live, and until we treat them as fairly as we have treated the Israelis we will always have a problem and others in the middle east will hate us. Let us do something now! Let us truly stop the war! Support the war by bringing them home.

I find your new ads to be misleading and offensive. The most offensive part is that you feel that Americans are so stupid that we will believe your half truths. Possibly the reason these senators voted against bringing the troops back is they understand the lessons of viet nam and that you cant be a pussy in the mideast

I resent your vicious and false ads against Sen. Susan Collins in Maine, and consider your ads VERY UNAMERICAN. Your actions are very pro-enemy to America, and if you had any decency and morals, you should BE ASHAMED !!If you don’t like it here in America----LEAVE and go to a country that has cruel dictators like No. Korea, Cuba or Iran ! Your statement of purpose is false and misleading, and clearly anti-Republican and pro-democrat and pro-union, with no sense of dignity or decency !! I consider you ads, blogs and other vile attacks on Americans VERY OFFENSIVE. Your attacks on millionaires is also very distorted, and you fail to note that published reports show that over 65% of the U.S.Senators are Democrats[Kerry,Kennedy,Clinton,Feinstein,Kohl,Rockefller among them], and Pelosi voted to raise the Federal min. wage, but not in the islands in the Pacific where she has holdings in corporations that are not subject to the same minimum wages. Also, while you are whining about millionaires not paying enough taxes, why don’t you reveal that former Pres. Wm Clinton has grossed over $40,000,000 in the past 6 years since leaving office, plus what his wife has made off books and hiding monies in their non-profit entity that she refuses to reveal.Fairness for the middle American is not what your organization is about, and you even fail to reveal your organizations e-mail address. Anti-American, and definitely Socialist. That’s what you are as well as despicable whiners, who would rather throw your support to people who would destroy America than support it. SHAME ON ALL OF YOU AND YOUR HIDING behind your spleeny, cowardly ways. Print your personal e-mail addresses if you dare, but it is obvious you are all COWARDS !!!

To Ian in N.H. who writes that the pro-war senators “understand the lessons of viet nam and that you cant be a pussy in the mideast”
- You should read some of the real history of the Vietnam War some day. You would learn that the US was completely on the wrong side of that war, that we committed horrific war crimes, & that we had no right to be there at all, much less to murder several MILLION innocent civilians who had never done us any harm.
Your ignorance about Vietnam is quite typical of the usual pro-war American nitwit. We shouldn’t be in Iraq; the war is based on lies; we don’t deserve to win it because we are morally in the wrong there. The real lesson of Vietnam is that the US should not enter into wars unless the US is truly under a threat from a foreign power—and this is very different from a liar like GW Bush claiming there’s a threat.
