GOP’s health mandate squabble is a gift that keeps on giving for Democrats

Rick Perry's attacks against Mitt Romney during the debate in Iowa provoked one of the most talked about moments of the campaign when Romney bet Perry $10,000 that he'd never advocated a federal mandate.   Gleeful Democrats pounced on the price tag - the liberal Americans United for Change ranks the bet second among Romney's "Top 10 out-of-touch moments" - but the spotlight shined on the GOP's past support for requiring people to have insurance may well do them the most long-term damage.
