John Sununu: We Are Counting on You

Embryonic stem cell research holds the key to potential cures for devastating illnesses like cancer, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, diabetes, and many more. Millions of Americans have been touched by these diseases and are ready to see better treatments and cures.

We are one vote away from lifesaving stem cell research. Senator John Sununu of New Hampshire is that one vote.

Tell John Sununu why you're counting on him to support stem cell research.

Call his office at 202.224.2841 and tell him to support stem cell research.

Then, call 1-866-907-0864 and tell us why supporting stem cell research is important to you.

We need as many people as possible to call Senator Sununu.

Ask your friends and family to call now.

President Bush has been steadfast in opposing this lifesaving research and has vetoed the last bill to cross his desk supporting stem cell research.

It is a family's right to decide and choose the best medical care for their loved ones. Political leaders should not be cutting families off from access to this lifesaving research, but instead leading the effort to fund this research.

We are one vote away from overriding President Bush's next veto of this important legislation, and Sununu is the key.

Senator Sununu has:

  • Opposed expanding funding for stem cell research [HR 3, (2007)],
  • Voted to restrict stem cell research,
  • Voted to criminalize one of most advanced stem cell techniques that will help to understand and treat disease [HR 2505 (As a U.S. Representative in 2001)]
  • Voted to penalize family members participating in the above techniques with criminal penalties of up to 10 years of imprisonment and civil penalties of a fine no less than $1,000,000 [HR 2505 (As a U.S. Representative in 2001)]
  • Supported the president time and again on stem cell research.

However, he has also:

  • Co-sponsored a bill to make limited types of stem cells available for research, although their effectiveness is unknown,
  • Supported creating a donor bank for limited types of stem cells.

This is our chance to effectively pressure Sununu into taking the extra step, and supporting embryonic stem cell research.

The difference is life and death.
