* Served as a visiting professor, then Professor of Law at Harvard Law School from 1999-2003.
* Appointed Dean of Harvard Law School in 2003; first woman to hold the position.
* Served as the 45th Solicitor General of the United States from 2009-Present; first woman to hold the position.

We urge the Senate to hold fair confirmation hearings in a timely fashion. The Supreme Court should not be a political tool and the nominee should not be used as a punching bag. The Supreme Court is far too important to stall a nominee in order to pander to a political base. Elena Kagan is an accomplished and qualified nominee and deserves the utmost respect. We, the American People, ask the Senate for a swift confirmation.
