Americans United for Change Targets Tea Party Supporters with New Internet Ad Campaign
‘Republicans Are Listening To The Wall Street Big Banks, Not You’
Washington D.C.– With the U.S. Senate just days away from voting on the President’s comprehensive financial regulatory reform proposal to hold Wall Street banks accountable, progressive-issue advocacy group Americans United for Change launched an aggressive new internet campaign today encouraging supporters of the tea party movement to tell Senate Republicans to listen to the American people and not the Wall Street banks who were responsible for crashing the economy. According to a recent Bloomberg poll, “[Tea party backers] look to the government to rein in Wall Street, with almost half saying the government should do something about executive bonuses.”
See images below of online paid ads targeting tea party activists on some conservative websites like BigGovernment.com, hotair.com, Townhall.com in addition to Facebook ads targeting followers and fans of Congressman Ron Paul (R-TX) and the tea party movement – all told, targeting 3-4 million people. Tom McMahon, Acting Executive Director, Americans United for Change: “A major ideological and political collision is looming between tea party supporters -- whom recent polling shows want the government to rein in Wall Street -- and Senate Republicans that are intent on shielding the big Wall Street banks from any accountability after laying waste to our economy. By highlighting this gaping chasm between Senate Republicans that are bought and paid for by Wall Street executives and conservatives that lost their jobs thanks to Wall Street’s recklessness and greed, we expect the potential political consequences of standing with the big banks will make a number of Republicans think twice about opposing financial reform.”
