New TV Ad Warns Congressional Republicans: ‘Hands Off Obamacare’

As the GOP Continues Counterproductive Crusade to Hamstring Obamacare, Ad Highlights Good News of Plummeting Premiums in NY Thanks to ACA’s Mandate

WATCH: ‘HANDS OFF OBAMACARE’

Washington D.C. (July 18, 2013) – On the heels of House Republicans’ latest counterproductive and costly vote to repeal, delay or dismantle Obamacare, Americans United for Change is on the air with a new TV ad putting the Grand Obstructionist Party on the defensive for trying to strip away the health law’s new benefits and consumer protections – benefits that include plummeting premiums for New Yorkers, according to a new study.  “Hands Off Obamacare” can be seen on cable news starting today into next week. See script below, and watch it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=01UGUdvRS5w&feature=youtu.be

Brad Woodhouse, President, Americans United for Change: “This is a warning shot to Republicans that they are playing with fire with their hyper-partisan efforts to repeal and undermine Obamacare. They will be held accountable for their stubborn insistence on making legal again the worst insurance industry practices like huge unjustified premium hikes of 20, 30 or more percent without accountability or denying care to sick kids. Obamacare is working – reining in premiums, helping seniors, women, minorities and young people get more and better coverage and putting patients and doctors in charge of healthcare decisions rather than insurance companies – and even still – Republicans are doing everything they can to deny people these benefits and discourage them from receiving them.  The problem for them, as the news out of New York Times shows, is that Obamacare is working.”

Just this week, Republicans voted to stall the Obamacare requirement that individuals purchase government-subsidized health insurance, which – if they had their way – would leave 13 million Americans uninsured and leave people everywhere paying higher premiums.

“We’re not taking it lying down,” added Woodhouse.  “We're going on the offense with the same message they unsuccessfully used to try and stop Obamacare from passing: ‘Hands of My Healthcare.’  Obamacare is the law of the land and is helping millions of Americans so we are turning the table on them with a simple and direct message: ‘Hands Off Obamacare.’”
