St. Paul, MN - The Seat Our Senator campaign presented a basket of Iowa corn to Gov. Tim Pawlenty with a message: "Iowa Caucuses Can Wait, Minnesota Needs You Now."  The effort is part of an ongoing campaign by Alliance for a Better Minnesota, MN AFL-CIO, AFSCME Council 5, Working America, SEIU MN State Council, Americans United for Change and others urging Pawlenty to do his legal duty and certify the U.S. Senate election results should Al Franken be declared the winner by the Minnesota Supreme Court.

Donald McFarland, "Today, the Seat Our Senator Campaign delivered a basket of Iowa corn and a message to Governor Pawlenty: ‘The Iowa Caucuses can wait Governor Pawlenty, Minnesota needs you now.'  We hope that the Iowa corn will tide the Governor over until the Minnesota Supreme Court makes it's decision. Pawlenty might have one eye on his national political profile, but what he really should be focusing on is his legal duty to certify the Senate results should the Minnesota Supreme Court declare Al Franken the winner.  During these extraordinarily difficult economic times that are each day leaving more Minnesotans without jobs, homes and health care, we can not afford to be without full representation in Congress a day longer than necessary."

Additionally, the Alliance for a Better Minnesota has released a new radio today, airing on the Governor's radio show, asking Tim Pawlenty to put Minnesotans above his national political ambitions, and seat Al Franken if the State Supreme Court should confirm the election results.

These latest efforts by the Seat Our Senator campaign follows a recent television ad from Americans United for Change called ‘The Choice' which aired in the Twin Cities and Rochester media markets and a billboard purchased on the SE corner of 94 and Snelling Ave. in St. Paul that both ask Governor Pawlenty if he will act in the best interests of the people of Minnesota that urgently need full representation in the U.S. Senate - or his own national political ambitions.
